A novel separation method for lanthanide utilizing enantio-selective coordination and molecular template was developed. The single crystals of lanthanides complexes with newly synthesized ligand N-methyl-N-phenyl-1,10-phenanthroline-2-carboxamide (= MePhPTA) give the complexes with each pseud-chiral conformation on ligand coordination between Nd and Eu in lanthanide series. We found enantio-selective precipitation of Ln-MePhPTA complex by utilization of molecular template which can give a specific space optimum for only one side of enantiomer. Namely, the addition of chiral monodentate amine as molecular template triggers formation only for Eu-PTA complex precipitation from the mixed solution of Nd, Eu and MePhPTA. This enantio-selective coordination with PTA and molecular template would possibly improve noble intra-series separation of lanthanides.

We have studied the change of oxygen behavior using by neutron diffractions before and after annealed (La,Sr)(Co,Fe)O (LSCF) synthesized from high or low purity raw materials. The oxygen neutron scattering length density of the high purity LSCF concentrated to the 18 site after annealing according to results of the Rietveld refinement and the maximum entropy method. On the other hand, For one of the low purity LSCF, No marked changes were seen. These results suggest that oxygen concentrate to the stable site in the high purity LSCF, on the other hand, the stability of the oxygen in low purity LSCF did not change by annealing.
